What exactly are bird mites? They are pests that feed on the blood of birds, with chicken and pigeon serving as their principal hosts.

These parasites are so little that they are nearly hard to spot with the naked eye.

Bird mites Identification

The first step in dealing with an infestation is to identify the pest. Place a piece of transparent sticky tape near any spots where you’ve noticed activity.

You can locate the location and apply the tape on it to catch the parasite because of the ‘crawling’ sensation they generate on the skin. Remove the tapes and use a magnifying glass to examine the mites.

The bird mite has eight legs and an almost colorless appearance, as you can see. Its body color, however, changes to red after it eats.

This is one aspect that sets it apart from other infestations.

  1. What about bird mites inside you? I can feel them moving about under the skin. It’s very real and the only time I don’t feel them is when I take alot of wormwood. I have suffered for 5 years and I have done everything to eradicate them. Is it possible that I keep reinfecting myself through my cat?
